Friends of Forge Mill Needle Museum Supporting our Local Museum in Redditch

Forge Mill Museum Heritage Open Day

13 September 2015  11.00am to 4.00pm

Many thanks to everyone involved in our Heritage Open Day at Forge Mill Museum. The weather was very kind to us and we had well over 300 visitors.

The Midland Morgan Sports Car Club displayed a wonderful selection of superbly maintained cars (including a rare Dellow sports car made in Alvechurch) and Indigo Arts entertained us throughout the day with their melodious singing.

There was a steady stream of visitors to the Redditch History Society’s ‘Redditch  History in Print’ exhibition and to the current Forge Mill exhibition of textile art.

The visitors were mainly adults and the tours of the Mill and the Abbey ruins conducted by our volunteer guides were well attended. The children who came to the event thoroughly enjoyed the craft activity and the heritage trail based on our local heritage.

Special thanks to the Forge Mill staff, Debbie, Patrina and Ches, for their hard work and support on the day, and to Redditch Council for allowing us to hold this event at Forge Mill Museum.

Heritage Open Days celebrates England’s fantastic architecture and culture by offering free access to places that normally have an admission charge for entrance and/or events.
