Welcome

From the Volunteers at the Museum

We are committed to preserve the historical heritage of the small industrial town of Redditch. A town which has a fascinating history beginning with the Cistercian monastery in 1138, continuing through the Industrial Revolution, with the development of the town for the manufacture of needles, fish hooks and other products, and on to Redditch being designated as a ‘New Town’ and the subsequent changes associated with this. We are a group supporting the town museum, which covers the early development of the area and has exhibitions involving the history of the town from early times to the present day. We are involved in providing refreshments, helping in the shop, assisting at events, organising the annual Heritage Day and providing guided tours of the Needle Mill and Bordesley Abbey. We are a friendly group of volunteers who are happy to welcome new members.
